This notice explains how Smart Edge International Ltd, trading as SmartEdge, handles personal data when you visit this website or send us a request. It applies to families using our services in Germany and follows the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible

2. The data we collect and why
When you visit the website. Our hosting provider records technical data such as your IP address, browser and the time of your visit, so that the site works securely. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When you send a booking request. You give us your name, your child’s name and grade, the subject, the German state where your child studies, your WhatsApp number, your email address and your preferred times. A parent or guardian provides this information. We use it to reply, arrange a free trial lesson or consultation call, and match a tutor. Our legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Children’s data. We only ask for what we need to teach well: first name, grade, subject and school state. We do not collect data directly from children through this form.
Cookies and analytics. We use analytics and advertising tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and, where enabled, the Meta pixel. We only set them after you agree in our cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can change your choice at any time.
3. Spam protection
Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from automated programs. This sends data such as your IP address and browser information to Google. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the website from misuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
4. WhatsApp, email and lessons
We arrange sessions by WhatsApp and email. WhatsApp is provided by Meta, and your messages are handled under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy. Lessons take place online using Google Meet, and we may share materials through a private Google Classroom. Access is by invitation only. We use these tools to deliver the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
5. Who receives your data
Only the people and providers who need it: the tutor assigned to your child and our support team; our website hosting and email providers; Google (reCAPTCHA, Meet, Classroom); and Meta (WhatsApp). We do not sell personal data.
6. Transfers outside the EU and EEA
Our company is based in the United Kingdom, and our tutors and support team also work from Pakistan. Your data can therefore be accessed from countries outside the EU and EEA. The European Commission recognises the United Kingdom as providing adequate data protection. Pakistan has no such recognition, so we protect your data there in other ways: every tutor signs a confidentiality agreement and may use children’s information only to teach them. Providers in the United States, such as Google and Meta, transfer data under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep data
Booking requests that do not lead to lessons are deleted after 12 months. If your child has lessons with us, we keep lesson records for as long as the relationship lasts and then for 2 years. Invoices and payment records are kept for the period the law requires.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict its use, receive it in a portable format and object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to info@smartedgestudy.com and we will respond promptly. You may also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one in your German state, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
